Our Community Involvement
At CRG Companies, we believe local charities are the backbone of sustainability in Myrtle Beach. As our team continues to grow, so does our need to give back to our community! We are always looking for new ways to put our resources to work by offering support and materials whenever possible, as well as supporting our staff in their charitable efforts. As a team, our goal is to assist in building a better community for the future by furthering the mission of local nonprofits.
In 2017, CRG Companies put together a crew team to race in the Ground Zero Dragon Boat Festival. An annual event supporting the Ground Zero of Myrtle Beach mission to provide local teenagers with a positive and safe resource for connections, entertainment, and leadership. Each team fundraises leading up to the event with all proceeds directly benefiting the Ground Zero program. Thank you to all who helped us raise and donate over $3,500! A free event, hosted at the Pelicans Ballpark, brought to you by CRG Companies to bring our community together! Our team accepted donations throughout the day to benefit the Children's Museum of South Carolina raising a total of $2,561 for the organization. This non-profit organization plans to implement the funds raised to support their educational programs at the museum with an emphasis on under-resourced children. We gave away 800 pumpkins to over 1,500 friends who joined us. [To read more about the event, click here.]
In 2015, CRG Companies was approached by Habitat for Humanity of Horry County to develop a partnership that would include a donation of services or time to assist
in building a home. Before the close of the initial meeting, Preston & Terri decided CRG Companies would take it further and provide turnkey design and construction for a home at no cost to Habitat. With the help of our team, numerous vendors and subcontractors, in 2016 we turned the keys of a custom, furnished home over to one very deserving family. This home that marks the first of many CRG Companies plans to build for local organizations in the Myrtle Beach area. [Full list of vendors and project details can be found here.]
Legends Never Fade
CRG Companies has teamed up with the Reggie Sanders Foundation to assist in promotion of the 2016 Legends Never Fade celebrity softball game that will feature celebrities from across the nation who will hit the field to raise funds for Autism. The event will be held at Pelican's Baseball Ticket Return Field on Saturday, April 2nd, 2016 and will feature Hall of Fame legendary coaches Tony La Russa and Bobby Knight teaming up against CCU’s finest, Head Football Coach Joe Moglia and President Dr. David DeCenzo as they lead a team of celebrities in the Legends Never Fade celebrity game.
Quarterly Donations | Heroes For Children
In the 4th quarter of 2015, CRG Companies launched a new initiative to expand on the quarterly team share and make a monetary donation to charities selected by our team members. Our first recipient, Heroes for Children, was selected by our Customer Relationship Manager, Rainbow Russell. Heroes for Children is a community based 501(c)3 non-profit organization formed to support the Horry County Guardian ad Litem Program and to raise awareness of the issues associated with abused, neglected, and abandoned children.
New Directions of Horry County
During the 2015 holiday season, CRG Companies employees joined a donation drive to benefit New Directions, a center for women and children (CWC) that provides non-emergency, long term, housing to assist with the transition out of homelessness and poverty. Thanks to the overwhelming response from our entire crew as well as other suppliers along the Grand Strand, the goal for donations of clothing, toys, household goods, and toiletries was exceeded!
This fun event benefits HCS Early College High School, a program designed to provide students from a variety of backgrounds access to higher education. By allowing these students to graduate high school with up to two years of college credit, Early College helps to fast track their success at continuing their education and developing a professional career. Horry County Dancing with the Stars is an annual fundraiser that brings community leaders together to dance “competitively” while raising funds for the school, CRG Dancer Richard Bateman and partner, Santa LeRoy were the 2015 winners of the event, raising over $20,000.
MDA Lock Up
In 2014 & 2015, CRG Companies was selected to participate in the annual MDA Lock Up to benefit the Coastal Carolinas Muscular Dystrophy Association. During this event, community leaders are “locked up” at a local business while they reach out to colleagues for donations of bail money! The community awareness and monies raised make this one of the MDA’s most successful campaigns year after year. Funds raised help send local children to MDA Summer Camp as well as provide services, clinic visits, and equipment assistance to patients such as wheelchairs and leg braces.
Sea Haven Home Donation
Sea Haven provides outreach and crisis services to teens in need of a safe place to turn. In 2014, CRG Companies purchased a lot with an existing structure that was a commercial space in a residential zone. Rather than bulldoze the building, it was donated to Sea Haven and relocated for use as office space. The lot is currently being developed into two residential homes that were custom designed with the input of the surrounding residents to ensure the property matched the needs of the neighborhood.
