CRG Companies and Habitat For Humanity Host Blessing
CRG Companies and Habitat For Humanity Kick Off 25th Anniversary in Horry County
Today we celebrated the construction of our first Habitat for Humanity home with a 'Blessing of the Home' ceremony, a Habitat tradition to kick off the start of construction for new homes. While construction is underway on our home, the Blessing also signified the start of Habitat for Humanity's 25th Anniversary in Horry County, South Carolina.
Our team joined staff and volunteers of Habitat for Humanity of Horry County and the future homeowners, Billy & Keandra Lewis along with their two children, Jacob and Ja'Nyra to celebrate their success within the program and upcoming homeownership. Billy & Keandra Lewis applied to the Habitat program in February of 2014, and have set an example for all candidates within the program. According to Rachel Kennon, Habitat for Humanity of Horry County Operations Manager, “Billy and Keandra have worked to meet and exceed our requirements for homeownership. They have invested countless volunteer hours, have attended every financial and home maintenance class made available to them, and even paid off closing costs prior to knowing where their home would be located!”
Driven to Success
Billy and Keandra attribute their success in the program to their devotion to providing a better life for their children. “For years we’ve paid excessive rent for inadequate living conditions and dreamed of becoming homeowners,” explained Billy Lewis. “We turned to Habit for Humanity of Horry County for assistance and thanks to their program and CRG Companies donation, our hard work and patience are paying off!” The Lewis home will be the first Habitat for Humanity home to be completed in 2016 and CRG Companies, with the help of numerous local businesses, will be providing the design and construction at no cost to Habitat.
Designed for Life
The CRG Companies team designed the home to maximize The Lewis’ ability to enjoy family time indoors and out, including two porches and an extra side entrance opening into the laundry room. Knowing their son struggles with allergies, all interior product selections were chosen based on allergen ratings. The family was also included in color selections and styles throughout the home and were able to view a 3D rendering provided by Hans Meier Designs depicting the CRG Companies home design before the start of construction.
