Where better to celebrate our country's independence than on the beautiful beaches of the Grand Strand? If you’re looking for a boomin’ good time, check out our featured list of 4th of July events happening in and around the Myrtle Beach area this weekend. Celebrations for the whole family include fireworks, festivals, parades, contests, and more!

murrells-inlet-boat-paradeSaturday, July 2nd @ 10:00am - Murrells Inlet Patriotic Parade - Decorated in “Red, White, and Southern”, boats will parade through the salt marshes from Garden City to Morse Park Landing. Watch from the shorelines or boardwalk and cheer on your favorite contestants. This 33rd Annual event will conclude with a fireworks show on the MarshWalk at 10:00pm.

Saturday, July 2nd @ 12:00-5:00pm - Independence Saturday Cookout - La Belle Amie Vineyards in Little River, SC is hosting a BBQ with music and wine tastings.

Saturday & Sunday, July 2-3 @ 7:00pm - Myrtle Beach Pelicans - Start your long weekend off with our local minor league baseball team at their home stadium. The three game series against the Potomac Nationals will include weekend celebrations including post-game fireworks displays for our nation's Independence. Come celebrate early with the Myrtle Beach Pelicans.

Monday, July 4th @ 7:30am - Independence Day Runs - Kick off the day at Market Common with a one mile, 5k, or 8k race on Farrow Parkway. The course is through the scenic Market Common region of Myrtle Beach and features highlights of the former Myrtle Beach Air Force Base.

myrtle-beach-salute-from-the-shoreMonday, July 4th @ 1:00-2:00pm - Salute from the Shore - A great way to enjoy a moment of reflection on our troops as the South Carolina air National guard’s F-16s lead a Vintage Aircraft over the SC coastline from cherry Grove in North Myrtle Beach down to Hilton Head Island. This commemoration will be the 7th annual fly over and we invite you to show your support for America's Armed Forces!

Monday, July 4th @ 2:00-4:00pm - Annual Cupcake Eating Contest - You heard right, have your cake and eat it too! Croissants Bistro and Bakery is hosting the 5th annual cupcake eating marathon held at Heroes Harbor at Broadway at the Beach. Participants are challenged to indulge in as many cupcakes as possible within 5 minutes. All proceeds benefit the Reggie Sanders Foundation and the winner will be crowned Cupcake Champion of the Grand Strand.

In addition to these great events, enjoy our many small town Independence Day celebrations along the Grand Strand in Little River, Surfside, and Pawley's Island.
