CRG Design/Build Project: Oceanfront Remodel In Myrtle Beach

This Myrtle Beach oceanfront home, originally built in 1992 as the retirement home for General Hackler, recently underwent a complete remodel. The CRG team updated the design and repaired structural issues during the renovation, while maintaining the original footprint and modern style of the home design.

First Impressions

This home makes a statement from the curb to the door with metal artwork in the entryway roof, modeled after a stained glass design. The gates and fencing surrounding the home also include matching custom metalwork.

A Koi pond and custom front door and garage with woodworking by Charles Ramberg's Fine Furniture complete the design and set the tone for the clean, modern, luxurious style that is carried throughout this two-bedroom home that spans nearly 6,000 sq ft.

A dramatic, solid, walnut staircase wraps a live tree in the entryway. The original home also featured an interior tree which had outgrown the space and was relocated during the renovation.

The living room fireplace was redone in stacked stone with a firebox by Napoleon. Live plants with a self-watering misting system top the fireplace and are viewable in the master bedroom as well.

Room For A View

As with most of our oceanfront homeowners, taking full advantage of the ocean views was paramount to the homeowners in remodeling this luxury estate in the heart of Myrtle Beach. This home in particular is one of the few along the Grand Stand that provides full panoramic ocean views from the interior of the home, one of the original features that was enhanced in the CRG Companies remodel.

Adding even more to the natural light in the home and the ocean view, a cupola on the back of the home allows you to see directly to the ocean from the bridge on the 2nd floor interior. The opening on the front roof and this cupola mimic a telescope allowing a clear view through the top of the home.

Outdoor Living - Oceanfront Style

The expansive ocean views of the interior home design continue with an exterior back deck that spans the home with an outdoor kitchen and plenty of seating. A large yard leads to private beach access.

A second floor observation deck with lounge area was also added that is only accessible by a spiral staircase from the back deck.

The plunge pool is also a hot tub that includes a fountain and recycled sea glass fire pit. It is surrounded by concrete oyster shell pavers and the inside is covered with small river stone.

High Tech - High Luxury Living

For these homeowners, the function of the home was equally as important as the design. Our team was able to integrate technology into the home plans and interior design to allow for maximum efficiency. The combination of technology and home design in the home plan helps to create the conveniences that lead to luxury living.

While minimal in design, the kitchen is outfitted for gourmet cooking yet well organized for convenient daily living.

Kitchen Features Include:

  • Modern architectural design elements such as the waterfall drop granite countertop and the curved ceiling design that mirrors the counter below
  • A mix of Elmwood custom cabinetry, locally provided by Southport Cabinet Company and imported Pedini Italian cabinets
  • The stove utilizes magnetic induction, instead of an electrical heating element which is an environmentally friendly cooking method used in many restaurants that also results in faster, more even cooking. The stove is never hot to touch, requires a minimal amount of electricity, and has a very low risk of fire
  • The refrigerator, dishwasher, and even the drawer style microwave, are all designed to blend into the cabinetry to maintain the clean lines of the home design

The home theater seats 12 comfortably and has a drop-down 50" CinemaScope screen with a top of the line Sony 4K projector, a combination that parallels the viewing experience in public theaters.

Appliances throughout the home such as the blinds, thermostats, lighting, TVs, and access control for the front door and gates are all scheduled and are controlled from anywhere with ap based technology.

Our team is capable of any size remodel, design, or new construction project and is available to discuss which options work best for your home! If you are ready to buy, sell, renovate or build new in the Myrtle Beach or surrounding areas our team is here to help.
