Opening the Door for Realtor Safety

It comes with no surprise in the fast-paced, virtual world of the real estate industry that sometimes Realtors sacrifice their personal safety to accommodate their clients' needs for showings at any time of the day with little notice. It’s simply the nature of our business and our Realtors are always happy to meet clients on their schedule. It’s one of the reasons we opened a Myrtle Beach office this year, to assist our agents in showing property on the north end of the Grand Strand. The staggering number of robberies, assaults, and even murders of real estate agents nationwide has driven us to join a growing movement nationwide to provide an Open Door Program for all Realtors.

Making Realtor Safety Convenient

This policy is an effort to increase safety and help agents who are traveling outside of their usual areas or who have showings that are across town from their offices. The Grand Strand encompasses over 60 miles along the coast and Realtors don’t always have the time to meet clients at their offices to verify identities and don’t want to inconvenience their clients driving out of the way to meet at an office. We are extending a little extra coverage for those Realtors who need a quick place to shake hands and copy an ID before heading out to tour properties.

The Process Is Simple

  • No appointment needed!  We just ask you give the CRG Companies agent on duty a courtesy call ahead of time so they are aware you will be stopping in.
  • Arrive a few minutes ahead of your client to ensure there is no confusion when they reach the office.
  • Meet your new client, verify their identity, and head out for your property tour with a little more peace of mind!

While we don’t believe this will end all attacks against Realtors, we hope that it will at least deter some of the criminals out there! We are also looking forward to the extra collaboration between agents in our local market who stop in and become familiar with CRG Companies.

The majority of the attacks on Realtors have occurred when an unknown person in an unsupervised location took advantage of the agent’s vulnerability. We encourage all Realtors to take a few extra minutes to ensure their safety. Simply telling a potential client “it’s our company safety policy” should be enough to justify the extra step to clients, if not, perhaps they will avert a potentially harmful situation.

Our agent on duty can be reached by calling (843)213-6237 during normal office hours.
