Carolina Forest Community Amenities

Carolina Forest is a vast tract of land that has rapidly become one of the most sought-after communities in the Grand Strand. The area boasts one of the top school districts in South Carolina and is comprised of numerous neighborhoods and developments conveniently located between Myrtle Beach and Conway.

This is a family friendly town that is self-sufficient with churches, a post office, recreation facilities, grocery stores, and a fire department as well as numerous services, restaurants, and retail businesses. As a master-planned community, Carolina Forest homeowners have a blueprint for future expansion and a well-planned infrastructure making continued growth guaranteed for this young community.

The Lewis Ocean Bay Preserve, an undisturbed natural habitat set aside by the state of South Carolina, borders Carolina Forest on one side. Developers also took advantage of the close proximity to the amenities of the Grand Strand, with access points to Highway 501 and Highway 31 at either end of the community.

Carolina Forest Historical Record

Carolina Forest was once part of a larger tract of land called the Buist Tract, owned by Burroughs & Chapin. International Paper bought the Buist Tract in 1937, and while one section would be the future location of Carolina Forest real estate, another 30,000 acres was donated to Coastal Carolina University and about 9,000 more acres went to the state of South Carolina for the Lewis Ocean Bay Preserve. Eventually, International Paper would largely foot the bill for the completion of five-lane Carolina Forest Boulevard. Also, a total of about 500 acres of the land were eventually sold to create a golf course and more Horry County schools to serve the burgeoning population of Carolina Forest.
